As background to ASIC shows, the regulator has never been highly regardd since its creation. This is direct contrast to the Howard's Government's trumpeting of its success to overseas countries.

It is not without reason that investors in Westpoint, Fincorp, ACR - and a myriad of smaller companies - demand a Royal Commission into ASIC performance.

In the following list of communications addressed to ASIC, you will note ASIC did not bother to even acknowledge receipt of documents. I don't take the matter as a personal affront as ASIC didn't bother to answer a communication to the Liquidator of Westpoint Corporation for over six weeks. For some strange reason ASIC has elevated itself to a God-like status where it was not accountable to the mere mortals it is supposed to protect.
